Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice program at Trinidad State is designed to offer two options for students. The Transfer Ready Path allows students to complete the lower-division (freshman and sophomore) portion of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree prior to moving on to a university, and the Career Ready Path offers students the opportunity to develop work-related skills while gaining fundamental knowledge to enter the job market more quickly.
What will I learn?
A foundational career track for a student interested in entering the field of law
enforcement, corrections, probation/parole and criminology, is an Associate of the
Arts Degree with an emphasis in Criminal Justice. Students can complete the degree
in as little as two years. Students can also opt to participate in the Colorado Law
Enforcement Training Academy (link to that program page) offered at the Valley Campus.
Completion of these academic programs prepares students to succeed in a competitive
and ever-changing job market. The growing trend in law enforcement requiring police
officer’s and other industry professionals to possess a college degree makes the Criminal
Justice program at Trinidad State an excellent starting point.
Why should I choose Trinidad State College?
Trinidad State College's unique advantage is that we offer field experiences and hands-on
learning activities not present at many other institutions. In addition, our faculty
is dedicated to student success and experienced within the field.
What is the location?
The AA designed transfer degree is offered on the Trinidad Campus only. The Valley
campus, located in Alamosa, only offers the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy
where students can earn a POST certificate.
Where can I transfer AA my degree?
The designed transfer degree including the schools that participate in the articulation
agreement can be found here.
